I worked primarily as the flight systems and AI programmer on the team, focusing on the math of making flight feel great to the player. The AI also uses the same flight model as the player ship by feeding in inputs, so building my code in a way flexible and stable enough to be used by both was an exciting challenge. This also involved building some basic UI elements to make the 3D movement more understandable to players.

I also worked with the artists to get their assets in engine and looking as good as we could get them. I implemented the thruster trail effects, and took advantage of the Unity engine’s built in tools to add a better sense of depth to the asteroid fields.
