Checkmate

A chess action game built in 72 hours for Ludum Dare 41

 

When presented with the theme “combine two incompatible genres” we quickly thought of the idea of turning chess into a 3rd person action game. This obviously presented a lot of design challenges.

I built the player movement system and the UI to help players understand how their pieces would move. Since each piece in chess moves differently, this presented quite a challenge.
